Pirate Bowling With Harry & Jack.

Griffin was invited to Harry & Jack's 4th Birthday Party on Saturday.

It was held at the local bowling alley and the theme was Pirates.

Harry & Jack's gifts ... I wanted to dress the bags up "pirate-y" so I made a colored copy of Griffin's t-shirt (it read Pirates Arggggh Cool) and decorated it up a little bit.

The birthday boys ... Harry & Jack ... with their Daddy.

Birthday In A Box

Wow ... Griffin received even more mail ... this time it's Birthday in a box!

Aunt Joy, Harley and Stephanie sent Griffin an awesome gift. Joy emailed me this picture of her and Harley from her cell phone ... Stephanie isn't pictured.

One of Griffin's favorite things in the world is Matchbox cars ... and Aunt Joy took care of that for him.

But really ... do you think he really NEEDS more cars??

Wow ... what's in HERE??

He also received some really cool camo Matchbox croc-like shoes ... he's been wearing these everyday since he received them ... sometimes even with socks when it's cold outside.

And look at this cool John Deere shirt ... he wore it the day he got it ... in the picture of Nana, G and me, he's wearing it.

Thank you Joy, Harley and Stephanie ... we love you!

Easter In A Box.

Griffin received a surprise in the mail from his Grandma Bett.

Look ... it's Easter in a Box!

He loves this soft fluffy bunny!

I actually bought this antique bell while we were in Florida for 25 cents ... I had forgotten it at her house so she included it in the package. Griffin LOVES playing with it!

She also included this handmade sign that I made like 10 years ago. I keep meaning to ask her where she found it. I couldn't believe it ... how appropriate is it? It was probably one that I had messed up on and put to the side as you can see it's smeared.

See ... Look ... Missy Made It!

Country Boy.

I am SO excited ... I've been looking for this John Deere t-shirt everywhere for Griffin!

I found it on Ebay today ... and I'm bidding on it! I really hope to win it. I prefer to "Buy It Now" ... however that option wasn't offered.

I have to have this shirt for our little Country Boy!

He truly is truly a Country Boy ... and I think he will look dang cute in it!

We are off to the YMCA today to meet some friends for swimming. They still have the dome over the pool and it's supposed to rain today ... so it will be a great indoor activity for us.

My Addiction.

Okay ... I admit it, I have a new addiction ...

83 words

I can NOT stop doing this ... I *know* I can type more than 83 words a minute, but that's all I've been able to achieve. It's fun ... why not give it a try?? Let me warn you though ... it's highly addictive.

Okay ... so I wanted to share this picture. Really, for no other reason than I think it's super cute. We were at the park yesterday and Griffin got into a mud bog ... I mean really ooey, gooey red clay mud and he was covered up to his ankles in it. Here he's showing his wonderful mess to me.

And tonight ... I'm very excited about the Celebrity Apprentice finale. This show seems like it's been on F-O-R-E-V-E-R ... but tonight we find out who wins!! The last two are Trace Adkins (country singer) and Piers Morgan (British A**). Donald Trump has kind of set us the "good" vs. "evil" situation. Guess who I'm rooting for???

More stuff to come soon ...

We met a group of friends at the park yesterday for the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

We started with a very windy day, added a bunch of really sweet kids, mixed in some fun easter eggs and a GREAT time was had by all!

The Redbud Tree.

In the spring of 2003, Mike and I had just made the decision to relocate to Central Virginia and we were looking for a new home. One of the first things that caught my eye about the area, were these beautiful lavendar flowering trees. I asked the realtor we were with and she said they were Redbud trees. Actually she said "Red Buuuuud Trees" ... she is very southern.

Immediately it made me think of that Chevy Chase movie "Funny Farm". Does anyone remember that they lived in the town of Redbud? LOL ...

Anyway ... ever since that day we've been on a quest to find one of these trees for our yard ... and we finally found one at Lowe's this past weekend!!

In a few years our tree will look this pretty!

Mike and Griffin planting our redbud tree

Griffin moving the dirt back over to cover the roots

And then a little sprinkling of water

Teamwork makes it happen

I've decided I really like working outside with flowers and plants. And those people that truly know me ... well, they know I do NOT have a green thumb. But this year might just be different!

Planting Pansies.

Sunday was deceptively warm looking outside ... but in reality it was freezing cold!! The temperature may have read in the 50s ... but brrrrr ... it sure felt colder than that.

We took a trip to Lowe's to pick up a redbud tree (will blog about that tomorrow) and some pansies. I thought it would be great fun to create a little garden with Griffin.

This is the area where the pansies will go ... a little plain, huh?

We loaded up some of the pansies in Griffin's little wheel barrow to move them over to our planting area

Yes ... an honest to goodness picture of me and Griffin together. Here I am dressed in all of my Sunday glory ... sweats and all ...

One of Griffin's favorite discoveries were the worms living in the soil that we dug up ... he was SO happy.

A closer look at his wormy little friends ..

And here's Griffin showing them off to you ...

After planting it was time for Mike and Griffin to water the pansies ... another favorite thing for Griffin to do.

And here you see our sweet little flower garden ... it's amazing what a little color can do to an area.

One of my favorite sayings of all times is:

The earth smiles in flowers ...

And I truly believe that.
