Where Is The Millinium Falcon?

I just came downstairs and I noticed quite a few Legos on the living room floor. They looked familiar, but oh could it really be? He.Took.His.Millineum.Falcon.Apart. I couldn't believe it. He knows he was supposed to leave it together. I asked him why he took it apart and he said "Well, Mommy you know Legos have a life cycle. First you put the kit together, you keep it together and let it sit for a few months, and then you take it apart and make something else. Mommy, everything has a life cycle." I guess I can't argue with his reasoning. I'm letting it goooooo ... just breathe.

Fishing With The Gills.

The boys and I went fishing down at the pond today. The fishing was GOOD for the boys, though my bright, new pink fishing pole only worked when sweet 3-year-old Clara took over. Griffin had such fun catching fish today and he cleaned fish for the first time too! It was a great end to a pretty perfect day.

2nd Grade Economics Project

Griffin has an Economics Project due tomorrow ~ he knew right away he wanted to make candy airplanes. He chose the image to print on the gum, designed and created his advertisement (with a little, tiny bit of help from Mom) and he actually sat there and made all 20 of the airplanes. He decided to put two in a pack because they only cost 13 cents per airplane to make. This project will allow the students to gain understanding of the principles of economics. They will have the chance to be both producer and consumer. The children were to make 10 things to sell to their classmates. They were to cost less than $2 each to make. Each child will set a price for their item and try to sell it to their classmates. They had to create an advertisement to go with their product. After that they will get to be a consumer. His teacher will give each child $10 in play money to buy their classmates products. They get to keep the items they buy in order to make it authentic. I think he's going to have SO much fun tomorrow!

Cicadas!

Griffin is out on the back porch with a bucketful of cicadas in various stages. He said "Mommy do you want to come look at the cicadas". I said "no thank you". But now that I'm thinking about it, exactly how much longer will he want to sit on the backporch with me? So, I'm goin' out to look at some cicadas.

Mother's Day.

I had such a wonderful Mother's Day ~ my boys treated me to an absolutely wonderful day!! We enjoyed a nice church service and then they took me to Frida's for lunch. It was such a surprise to get a long stem red rose while there! Back home, I was presented with beautiful cards and chocolate covered pecans from Virginia Diner! I also was gifted lots of plants and a rose bush on Saturday for our garden. Mike worked on the raised garden bed, Griffin and I pulled some weeds and then I took a break to attach the tens machine to my lower back and watch a marathon of Cupcake Wars. My wonderful husband had put baby back ribs on the smoker earlier in the day (cooked low & slow) so we had ribs and all the fixings for dinner. Thank you Mike and Griffin for making me feel extra special on Mother's Day!!

GES Wall Of Fame.

Mike and I are so proud of Griffin for being selected to be on the "GES Wall of Fame". Students that follow “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids” have the opportunity to have their photo displayed there. He was thrilled to earn a PINK day last week which resulted in his picture being displayed. The "7 Habits of Happy Kids" are ~ 1) Be Proactive 2) Begin with the End in Mind 3) Put First Things First 4) Think Win-Win 5) Seek First to Understand and Then to Be Understood 6) Synergize 7) Sharpen the Saw. Way to go buddy!!
