At the annual Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet they have a cake auction to raise funds for the pack.
Each Cub Scout's family is encouraged to create a cake for the auction.
I am NOT a baker so ... we thought a little out of the box and created a bakeless candy bar cake
We started with different sizes of styrofoam circles and candy bars
Then we cut circles to fit on the top of the styrofoam to give it a more finished look
This is what the styrofoam looked like before we added the candy bars
We took candy bars and very gently hot glued them to the styrofoam circless.
I did look for several different ways to adhered the candy bar and the hot glue worked the best.
Once we added the candy bars to each "layer" of the circles they were hot glued into place on top of each other. We found some curly ribbons at the dollar store we added to the top. We went to the Boy Scout website and found the Cub Scout logo. We made it larger and printed it out and attached it to a wooden skewer to go on top of the cake.
And finally ... our completed bakeless candy bar cake!
We were so happy when our cake went for $55 at the auction!

That is such a great idea! Maybe I'll make one of those for Easter. I just know you're cake was the best!
We made this cake for my son's Blue and Gold dinner and cake auction. Thank you so much for the cute idea. we changed it up a bit , by instead of using pre-formed syrofoam circles, which were pretty expensive, we used styro foam insulation from Home Depot. we got a huge sheet of styro foam, 6 by 12, I think, that was an inch thick for 10.00, cut out our circles, two of each size and hot glued them together. This was also great because they were pre-finished on top with silver aluminum. We also used crackle, twix and butter finger to stay with the blue and gold theme. Funny thing is we won most decadent cake, lol.
Amy ~ thank you for sharing!! Congratulations to your family on winning the most decadent cake!! I appreciate the information regarding the huge sheet of styro foam as well. That is definitely a huge cost savings and we will use that if we ever make another one. Have a great day!! :)
