STEM Day at GES.

Had a great morning with Griffin and his class during the STEAM program. {Science Technology Engineering Art Math} The children were assigned a task to create a community with various recyclables. The assignments varied slightly with the grade levels. Griffin's class created a community that included a hotel, school, bank, fire station, hospital, police station and YMCA. Each building had to be something the community needed. The buildings had to have doors, windows and a foundation. The children enjoyed this very much! This is a picture of their community.

Soggy Waffles.

I made Griffin blueberry waffles for breakfast this morning.

Normally I add a little butter, cinnamon and Splenda to them.

Dry, if you will.

Not the waffles I made. Just a random image I could find. They look yummy don't they?

This morning I decided to top them with syrup instead.

Griffin took one look at them and said "Mommy, Mrs. Stacey says we should never eat soggy waffles".

That's right, he used a class lesson against me.

Never Eat Soggy Waffles - NESW for map directions.

That just made me laugh.

Needless to say the waffles went in the trash and we started all over again.

Me And G.

It's rare I get a picture of Griffin and me together as I am usually the one behind the camera.

The other day we were working in the yard and then took a break on the porch. Mike snapped this picture of us together.

But, here's the true story ...

{I can't believe I'm sharing this}

Mike actually tried to get a picture of Griffin, Jasper, Oliver and me. Well, Jazzy and Ollie would not fully participate. And, well ... just look at what I'm wearing. My torn up, paint covered sweat pants and my stained from working in the yard shirt.

All it took was a little photo editing and waaaalaaaa ... the first photo in which I was happy to share. =)

Happy 17 Years Of Marriage.

On Friday Mike and I celebrated 27 years of togetherness. We started dating waaaay back in 1985 when we were seniors in high school.

Well, today we are celebrating 17 years of marriage!

That's right people April 8, 1995 we became Mr. and Mrs.

My bridesmaid Robin gave us this beautiful hand painted sign on our wedding day.

It has adorned our house since the day it was given.

Not only is it our wedding anniversary ... it's also Easter Sunday!

Please take the time to remember what this day is truly about.

Happy Day!

What I Want To Be When I Grow Up.

Today in Griffin's class their assignment was to dress up like what they want to be when they grow up.

Griffin wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up.

Well, a paleontologist AND an engineer that builds robots like his Dad and a treasure hunter and a night guard at the museum.

He has big plans for his future!!

This is what he wore to school today. I made the vest and he decorated it. Those are his Harry Potter glasses. The hat belongs to Daddy ... it's an Indiana Jones hat from Disney World that Mike has had for years. And the fossil he's holding his Pop & Nana sent him for Christmas. It's a mosasaur fossil and it is 60 millions years old (and yes it's real!)

Last night when he was doing the written part of his assignment he said "Mommy I know how to spell paleontologist" ...

Phonetically it's correct ... I think he did pretty well.

He was super excited to go to school today and share everything he knows about being a paleontologist.

I Am. Griffin's Mommy.

This little guy brings pure joy to my life.

Those beautiful brown eyes.
The long eye lashes.
The freckles sprinkled over his nose.
That sweet, toothless smile.

I will always and forever be Griffin's Mommy.

It always makes me happy when I'm walking through the halls at his school and kids will say "Hello Griffin's Mommy".

{sigh}

That's a name I am proud to own and one I will answer to for the rest of my life.

Griffin, it's because of {you} I can be called Griffin's Mommy.

I love you.

We {Heart} Friends.

With the warmer weather here it gives us more opportunity to spend time with friends. I so enjoy having kids over to our house. It allows me time to interact with my mom friends and Griffin always enjoys spending time with his friends too.

Yesterday after school we invited our neighbors and friends over for a playdate.

It was beautiful outside ... the perfect day to have people over.

The kids enjoyed running around, playing on Fort Griffin, jumping on the trampoline and cooling off with popsicles.

I so look forward to MORE of the precious days when summer arrives!

BTW ... if you like the border around the picture, I did that at www.picmonkey.com. I was so sad when it was announced www.picnik.com would be closing. But along came picmonkey to take over where they left off. Visit their site for free photo editing options.

The Cub Scout Auction Cake.

At the annual Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet they have a cake auction to raise funds for the pack.

Each Cub Scout's family is encouraged to create a cake for the auction.

I am NOT a baker so ... we thought a little out of the box and created a bakeless candy bar cake

We started with different sizes of styrofoam circles and candy bars

Then we cut circles to fit on the top of the styrofoam to give it a more finished look

This is what the styrofoam looked like before we added the candy bars

We took candy bars and very gently hot glued them to the styrofoam circless.

I did look for several different ways to adhered the candy bar and the hot glue worked the best.

Once we added the candy bars to each "layer" of the circles they were hot glued into place on top of each other. We found some curly ribbons at the dollar store we added to the top. We went to the Boy Scout website and found the Cub Scout logo. We made it larger and printed it out and attached it to a wooden skewer to go on top of the cake.

And finally ... our completed bakeless candy bar cake!

We were so happy when our cake went for $55 at the auction!
