Henricus Historical Park ~ Thankful!

I'm so happy I was chosen to be this young man's mother ~ and we get to experience fun, educational trips together. Today we visited Henricus Historical Park with a group of friends. We learned the Citie of Henricus was the second successful English settlement in the New World. This is also where Pocohontas lived and while living here, she converted to Christianity, was baptized and took the Christian name Rebecca.

Change.

I wouldn't change my child for the world, but I wish I could change this world for my child. (author unknown)

Awana 2016.

It was Awana awards night at church. Mike and I are very thankful for Griffin's T&T teachers, Jon & Tim. These two men have made a huge impact on Griffin's spiritual growth, he has learned so much this year! They make learning fun, the kids are respected and they are heard. They have an incredible way of reaching and relating to our kids. So much thankfulness for these two Godly men.

Baby Birds.

It is truly amazing to watch the baby birds grow. The first photograph is from Sunday, one week old. Mike took it and as you can see, they were ready to be fed. Griffin just took the 2nd picture of them at rest. Today they are 10 days old. It is adorable to see five itty bitty birds in the nest. Griffin observed the nest is now very green. He thinks Momma bird added to it.

Homeschool Field Trip - Graffiti Wall.

Today, was literally one of the best days of my life. Our homeschool group went on a field trip to downtown Richmond. I had the incredible opportunity to experience places I've never been to before, with people I care about very much. We went to the Historic St. John's Church, RVA Canal Walk and Bottom's Up Pizza for dinner. One of our favorite stops was the graffit wall at canal walk.

Homeschool Field Trip - The James River and Canal Walk

After visiting St. John's Church our field trip included a visit to the RVA Canal Walk.

Homeschool Field Trip - St. John's Church

Our homeschool group visited St. John's Church today. This is where Patrick Henry, gave his famous 'Give me liberty or give me death' speech igniting the American Revolution. I will say I had goosebumps knowing we were sitting in the same pews that some of our founding fathers (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and others) once sat in.

Homeschool - Byrd Park.

I really love where we live! It has been a beautiful day to enjoy an impromptu lesson in consumer/business affairs, a hike through Meadow Farm Museum and and finishing our day with an adventure at Bryan Park!

Homeschool - Meadow Farm At Crump Park.

After we finished our 'around town' business lesson, it was time to run around and enjoy this glorious spring day at Meadow Farm!

Homeschool - Lesson In Business - RVA Donut Shops!

Today Branden, Griffin, Clara and I visited three area donut shops to complete a lesson in 'consumer and business affairs'. The kids were to make observations and note information about the product/donuts, service, marketing strategy & use of brand and overall experience. We visited Duck Donuts, Sugar Shack Donuts and Krispy Kreme. After keeping notes, sampling donuts, choosing their favorites, and having a thorough discussion - this is their final report. I am SO proud of these kids. They did an AMAZING job! So, here it is ~ THE DONUT REPORT by Branden, Griffin and Clara.

Always Learning.

Learning is a constant ~ even something as simple as the first time mowing grass with a push mower. It may be difficult to stay just within the cuts of the last pass, but with practice, discipline and encouragement he will get there.
