Jack & Kara's Birthday Party!

Griffin had SO much fun yesterday at our friends K & J's birhday party at Chuck E. Cheese. He was thrilled when Chuck himself played 6 games with him!

2nd Grade Field Trip - Science Museum of Virginia

We had a wonderful time at the Science Museum of Virginia of Richmond today! Between the IMAX movie about volcanoes, earthquakes & tornados, the rat basketball, the hands-on lab about the weather and the free time, we had a ball! Griffin is showing the take-home project the children created. It's a weather box that respresents the different layers of the atmosphere ~ stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, exosphere. The sea monsters ~ I'm unsure who is more excited about those Griffin or me! When I was a little girl I always saw them advertised in the back of my Archie comic books but I never had a chance to get any of them. They had the Sea Monster kit in the museum store and we had to get a kit to grow some of our very own! So excited!!

Wacky Wednesday!

Today was Wacky Wednesday at Griffin's school ~ it was crazy hat day. He decided to wear the very special Griffin hat Duffey Clark gave him!

Fractions & Prayer

Griffin has been struggling a bit with fractions. Yesterday afternoon he brought two papers home he needed to review for his fraction test today. These particular pages he did not do well on. I could still see his struggles even after reviewing and doing his homework assignments. This morning he did two worksheets I printed from the Math Aids website and he did really well on them. On the way to school we prayed together about this test. I sent his teacher an email asking her to share his test grade as soon as she could. She just emailed me ~ he got a 100/A!! Through prayer and hard work he did such a wonderful job!

Bowling With Cub Scouts

The Cub Scouts went bowling tonight so they could earn their bowling belt loop. Griffin had such a good time and so did I!

Griffin's 8th Birthday Party

We had fun celebrating Griffin's 8th birthday with a pool party at the YMCA!

Griffin & AJ

After the party on Saturday we were very happy when Mike's brother Kevin & our nephew AJ could come over to spend some time with us. The boys enjoyed putting Legos together. It was great catching up with Kevin & AJ. We've got to find a way to get together more than once a year.

Waking Up 8!

Today is the big day ~ he's turning 8! When he woke up he said "Mommy I want to see what 8 looks like". He ran into the bathroom to look in the mirror. Then he said, "I don't look different but I feel different". And then he reminded me he is 8 now and no longer needs his booster seat in the car. So, on the way to school today he sat in the seat without a safety seat for the first time in his life. He was so happy!!

Fun With Fractions - Class Party

I'm helping with a "Fun With Fractions Party" with Griffin's class today. The cake and juice boxes are in the car and I'm headed out to Big Cheese Pizza for the pizzas. They were great about working with me to pick the pizzas up at 10:30 because they will eat at 11:00. Thank you to the general manager Earl for making this happen! Food Lion did a great job on the cake too ~ it's so fun and festive. I'm overlooking the fact that the icing bled. Who cares, right? Icing is icing and you can still read it and it will taste yummy! The kids are going to learn so much about fractions as Mrs. C cuts the pizzas and cake ~ AND enjoy a yummy lunch!

Griffin's Love Chain

Griffin brought this home from school today ~ a love chain he made in class. It's hard to read becaue he wrote in pencil. His hearts consist of:

100 Days Of School ~ 2nd Grade

Griffin's school will celebrate the 100th day of school today. The children were asked to wear something with 100 things on it during the assembly this morning to celebrate the day!



Of course Griffin's favorite "thing" in the world is Legos. So, we made a necklace/sign for him to wear consisting of 100 of his favorite things ~ Legos! It's also easy for him to put on and take off during the day.

He counted out 100 Legos and put them in a plastic bag. Then we stapled it to the center of an 8x11 piece of white cardstock. Then we stapled a colorful border to frame the Legos. Using the Cricut we cut out the words "100 Days Of School". It was fun creating this Lego inspired 100 Days Of School project together!

Wacky Wednesday At School.

Today is Wacky Wednesday at GES. The kids were supposed to dress to support their favorite Super Bowl football team. We are not football fans here and honestly I do not even know who's playing. Griffin decided to support HIS favorite team ~ the Goochland Bulldogs!

Today Griffin Accepted Christ.

Today in children's church Griffin accepted Jesus Christ into his heart as his Savior. This is such an incredible blessing. Mrs. Judy Hardwood walked him through.

Pinewood Derby - 2013

Griffin had SO much fun at the Pinewood Derby today! He placed 3rd place in the Wolf Den. This year his car was dragon inspired he and Mike shaped it in a very cool design and gave it a pointy front. He painted it green and named it Drago. Way to go buddy!

Griffin would absolutey LOVE to be a big brother ~ he was so gentle and encouraging with Clara today.

Jesus.

Driving to school this morning Griffin had Christmas on his mind. He wondered why we give each other gifts at Christmas when it is Jesus' birthday. Not truly knowing what to say I told him since we could not physically see Jesus we give each other gifts in celebration of His birthday and we remember him on His day and everyday. He said Momma I can see Jesus. I said you can? He said yes I can see him in my heart when I talk to him and pray. I love my boy.

Water Cycle Project

Griffin just finished his Water Cycle Project. This is completely his vision and design. {I did help with the glue gun} I think he did a great job!

It's Snowing!

Mike, Griffin, Jasper & Oliver took some time to play in the snow while I was cooking dinner last night. Love those big, fluffy snowflakes!

King Solomon's Crown

The children's Awana lesson is on King Solomon this week. I asked Griffin if he would make an example of the crown they will make tonight. He was happy to help.

Griffin - A/B Honor Roll

Griffin was recognized this morning at the GES Honors Assembly for achieving "A-B Honor Roll" for the first semester! We are so very proud of him!!
