My mother-in-law Bett arrived on Wednesday night.
Yesterday Bett, Griffin and I spent the day in town shopping and having lunch together. That was nice.
She is here to celebrate Griffin's 5th birthday!
I can't believe our baby will be 5-years-old!
The snow started this morning at 8:00 am. It's supposed to snow all day today and tomorrow. Bett will be enjoying her first winter storm.
If you are a scrapbooker I've just listed this week's Fun Friday Give-A-Way over on my Facebook Friends Page.

Happy Weekend ... Stay Warm!
Griffin's preschool hosted Father's Night and the boys went together.

I took this picture of them after they returned home and they had changed into comfy clothes.
Their evening consisted of a wonderful spaghetti dinner and building a Dog Treat box courtesy of Lowe's. They built the dog treat box together and Griffin earned his very first Lowe's patch. I need to sew that on the Lowe's apron they gave him. He also came home with the cutest set of goggles.
Griffin made Daddy a cool Father's Night card and Mike has it proudly displayed on his desk.
It's interesting to watch Griffin's behavior when they get home from doing something just the two of them. It's almost like this major sense of pride pours from every single ounce of him. It's adorable.
I love my boys and I'm so glad they had such a good time together.
When I started this blog I never knew how much it would come to mean to me.
Over the years I've shared things we've done, places we've been and just ordinary things.
Last night it finally dawned on me ... my blog is for Griffin.

As a child losing my mother at such a young age well it truly made an impact on me. I so wish I had memories of times with my mother. But, sadly I do not. Every once in awhile I'll remember something but it's very rare.
When Griffin is older he will be able to come back to my blog and see everything we've done together. Even though he may not remember he'll have pictures and my words.
Of course I aim to be around for a very long time and I'll be able to help him remember myself ... but you know ... just in case.
This year is kind of a tough year for me. My mother passed away when she was 43. This September I'll be 43. I feel like if I can just reach that birthday I've accomplished something.
I want to be around for a very long time to see my son grow into the man and father I know he will become. I look forward to that.
I guess I'm just feeling a little emotional this morning.
Griffin had his first dentist appointment the other day.
I was a bit worried about how he would do. We talked about it alot before we went and I told him what he should expect. On the way there I told him I was going to see the dentist too and I would go first so he could see what would happen. He said, "No Mommy I want to go first". So he did.

He was a champ. He climbed right up into the chair and opened his mouth. The dentist knew it was his first visit and he was very good with him. Basically he just counted his teeth and checked for cavities.
He told Griffin he was doing a very good job brushing because he had no cavities.
Way to go Griffin!
I'm amazed at how mature our little boy is getting. I can't believe he'll be five-years-old in a week and a half.
Sigh ... where has the time gone?
The other day Mike mentioned to me he saw a show on TV when he was in Seattle he thought I would enjoy watching. It's on the History Channel.
It's called American Pickers. Have you seen it?
OMG ... it is wonderful!!
These two guys go around the country in search of treasures found in old barns and such. Some of the things they find are simply amazing. They barter with the owners of the items and try to purchase the items they are interested in. Sometimes they make a deal, sometimes they don't.
The name of their company is Antique Archaeology. Where other people see dilapidated barns and overgrown yards, they see potential goldmines packed with rare finds and sensational stories.
Some of the folks just aren't interested in selling. However, they are willing to share the story of the item. I love that too.
I like old stuff ... I love going into a junque store and looking around. There's one on the way to Charlottesville in an old furniture store. I can't remember the name of it. It's awesome.
Last night on the show there was a man with 13 barns full of stuff. He just didn't want to sell any of his treasures. I can appreciate that. He reminded me of a local man, Mr. Meredith. He owns this really neat store near us called Meredith's. Bett and I went in there once when we first moved here. He had some amazing old antiques. When we would ask for a price he'd say, "I'm not ready to sell that". I just didn't understand why you would have an antique store open to the public and not want to sell something. LOL. I still don't. I haven't been in there since ... maybe I should pay Mr. Meredith another visit.
The past couple of weeks we've been a sick bunch here at our house.
The Wednesday before last Griffin woke up in the middle of the night with the stomach virus. Both Mike and I were up all night with him. It was pretty bad. For several days after he didn't want to eat anything. At all. This is a kid that is constantly (and I mean constantly) asking for food. We made him eat lunch and dinner. I'm sorry we did that. More about that later.
After Griffin's go 'round. Mike got it. His lasted for several days as well. Again, he didn't want to eat anything.
Even all the cleaning, Lysol Spraying and Clorox wiping didn't keep it away ...
Because, last Wednesday I got it. Ick. That's the perfect word for it. The Ick.
It was bad, bad, BAD!
Why does the virus always seem to hit at night?
I tell you ... I haven't felt that bad in a very long time.
I didn't want to eat for several days after either. I had to force myself to eat a piece of toast here and there. I finally was able to keep a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup down. Honestly, in my world Chicken Noodle Soup is a cure for all that ails.
Now ... back to Griffin not wanting to eat. We mad him eat. Now I feel so, so bad about that because I know how he was feeling. He would take a few bites of food and tell me his tummy was full. Next time I will listen and I will not make him clean him plate should he ever experience another virus like this.
We live and learn don't we?
The past couple of weeks I've been having a problem with spammer comments left on my blog.
Just yesterday I had one left for 25 different posts. I went in and deleted them, but seriously this is getting old.
Why is this happening? Is it happening to anyone else?
I really do not want to change to word verification or have to go in and approve each comment left ... but gosh ... I'm getting tired of the spam.
I love comments ... from my friends and visitors ... but NOT spammers!
Any suggestions?
