Catching Up With Friends.

Guess what I found yesterday? Yes ... you got it ... the car tags!! I feel so much better about finding them. I decided to de-clutter my scrapbooking area and found them hidden among the stuff in there.

My scrapbooking yard sale is still going on today (it's the post right below this one) in case you are interested. I still have some really fun, affordable things available. The yard sale will go on through Sunday, August 17th and anything left will go to my Ebay Store on Monday, August 18th. I would like to thank everyone that has purchased something so far!

Yesterday we had a fun playdate at the park ... it was great catching up with some of our friends. We really did miss them!

Hump Day.

After returning from our wonderful vacation, we find ourselves right back to our normal everyday life.

This is a picture I took of deer in the field across the road from our house. I probably took this picture early spring as there are no leaves on the trees yet. We own property on both sides of the road. The acre that is in front of our house (across the road) is right up against a huge farm field. Sometimes I wish all the trees weren't in front of our house because I would love to be able to see "out" more clearly. We had to walk through the woods to get this picture.

I still haven't found the tags/plate that I lost. And I just realized there are some magazines with it too. I know exactly what was in the stack, now if only I could remember where I put that dang stack at!

I did have the tag stickers reissued yesterday. It only cost $1.00 each to have them reissued. I felt better about going ahead and taking care of that instead of waiting around to see if I could find them. Before I even went in the house I went ahead and put the new sticker tags on the Jeep and the truck.

Griffin and I are back to our own little schedules as well ... except for the fact that he's been sleeping until about 8:00 am every morning. But that is a good thing.

Today we are meeting friends at the Mommy & Me Gym for playtime. We haven't seen our friends Kristen, Patrick and Matthew in quite awhile ... so it will be nice to catch up with them.

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day!

I can't find ...

Right before leaving for vacation we received new sticker tags for our automobiles. And also a new plate tag for our trailer.

(I thought this post needed a picture, though not related to the subject at all ... the flowers were so beautiful I decided to add them)

I put them away somewhere because I did not want to leave them on the counter while we were away.

Now ... I can't find them.

I hid them too well.

I know they are somewhere around here ... but honestly I have looked THREE times. I thought maybe if I slept on it maybe I would dream about where I put them. The only thing that did pop into my mind was the trailer tag was a new plate and not just a sticker. So, wherever I put them they should be pretty visible because the plate envelope is pretty big.

I sure hope I find them today!!

Vacation. Sunday. August 3rd.

Our FABULOUS vacation to Seattle, Washington began early Saturday morning, August 2nd. When I say early ... I mean early ... 3:30 am to be precise. Our flight left Richmond at 6:00 am so we had to leave our house by 4:00 am to get there in time.

This was Griffin's first airplane ride and he did absolutely wonderfully. He had the window seat and kept a watch on the sky almost the entire time. We had a layover in Cincinnati and then on to Seattle we went.

This is a view of Mt. Ranier from the sky ... oh my goodness ... it was absolutely breath taking. Can you make out the top of the mountain in the picture? It's the portion that looks like clouds almost in the middle of the frame ... but that's not clouds folks ... that is the magnificant Mt. Ranier.

We arrived in Seattle in the late afternoon. Mike's mother Bett was flying in to meet us there. We only had to wait about an hour for her flight to arrive.

After a quick bite to eat, we arrived at our hotel and pretty much collapsed for the evening. There is a three hour time difference for us ... I didn't know how we were going to deal with that, but it worked out just fine.

Sunday morning we decided to take a ferry boat ride over to the San Juan islands. This was a very, very good decision. We drove about an hour and a half to Anacortes to catch the ferry boat. Once upon the ferry boat it was about another hour and a half boat ride. It was amazing.

A view from the ferry boat ...

Griffin and Mike enjoying our first ferry boat ride.

We docked at Friday Harbour and we had this amazing view while we ate lunch at Downriggers Restaurant.

Mike, Griffin and me at Friday Harbor

We thought about taking a Whale Watching Cruise, but then we discovered we might be able to see the orcas (killer whales, think Shamu) from an area on the island. We headed over to Kiln Lime Park and we were greeted by this sign. I thought it was cute.

Do you see the orca in the picture? It's right in the middle of the frame ... see it ... yes?

And another picture of another orca. I'm not sure how many orcas was in the pod, but we counted at least four. This was simply amazing. To see orcas in the wild. Beyond amazing really. I could have stayed there all day!

As we were headed back to the mainland we saw this beautiful view from the ferry boat. It was overcast and cloudy on our way out ... imagine our surprise to realize this beautiful view was around us and we didn't even know it!

For our first day out ... we made a good choice by visiting the San Juan Islands.

I plan to blog about our other adventures as well. I hope I do not bore you to tears with information and details ... but we had SO MUCH FUN I just want to share everything I can!!

If interested ... I'll share our schedule.

Vacation. Monday. August 4th.

Pike's Place Market ~ Seattle

Monday we went to the famous Pike's Place Market ... and it was wonderful!

The market was alive with people and there was so much to choose from. Fresh flowers, vegetables, fish, seafood, pastries, fresh herbs, gifts, paintings, prints ... if you wanted it ... it was there!

Mike, Griffin and me in from of the famous Public Market sign

Bett, Mike and Griffin in front of the same sign ... it looks like Griffin was cut out of both pictures

Fresh flowers were available everywhere ... and they were SO affordable!!

Fresh veggies were also in abundant supply

Surely you've heard of the fish market at Pike's Place where they throw fish ... well, they actually have several of them in the market. This is the first one we came upon. Bett is in the picture with one of the fish guys. This isn't the "famous" Pike's Place Fish Market though.

Here we have a picture of THE famous fish throwers at Pike's Place Fish Market. They were amazing. It was such fun watching them. When someone orders something they have this little routine they do and it's as if they all break out into song together.

Just look at this crab ... yummy!

We ended our visit with lunch at Ivar's on the waterfront. It was really good!!

Vacation. Tuesday. August 5th.

Space Needle ~ Seattle

Tuesday we went to the Space Needle. Mike was very, very sick this particular day and stayed in bed the entire day. The Space Needle was only a few blocks from our hotel so Bett, Griffin and I decided to walk over there.

The Space Needle

A view from the bottom

There was an amazing view from the top of the Space Needle ... this is a view of the downtown area

And another view ... if I'm not mistaken, I believe that is the Olympic mountain range in the background from this view

Vacation. Wednesday. August 6th.

Mount St. Helens

Wednesday we drove to Mount St. Helens. For as long as I can remember this was a destination that Mike dreamed about going to.

How fitting we visited on his birthday!

A view of Mount St. Helens ... the volcanic eruption that occurred in May 1980 is still very evident. For me, this was probably one of the most solemn and still places I've ever been to.

And here we all are with the top of Mount St. Helens in the background

I love this picture of Mike and Griffin hiking up the mountain trail

In this picture you can see the crater created on top of the mountain when it erupted ... and you can also see the dome beginning to grow back

The wind was blowing about 50 mph (it seemed) when we were on top of the mountain. Mike took this picture ... he thinks it's funny ...

And another view of me in the wind
