Cub Scouts Visits Frostings Cupcake Bakery.

The Cub Scouts visited Frostings Cupcake Bakery on a go-see-it

Some of you may remember seeing them on Food Network's Cupcake Wars. They were on the "Wicked" episode.

They toured the kitchen and watched the bakers at work.

Then they had a Q&A session with the manager.

You certainly have to enjoy a cupcake while you are at the cupcake bakery!

We of course took one of their pretty pink boxes home with us ...

Filled with delicious cupcakes of course!

His First School Project.

Griffin was assigned his first project to complete in first grade

He was to choose an american icon (person, symbol or building) to complete the project on

He chose the bald eagle

Together we searched the internet for information about the bald eagle.

We also printed out some images to use on his poster

He wrote the information he found on cards

Mike taught us how to use the t-square to get the die cut letters straight on the poster. He added the letters, images and his information cards.

Getting everything just right ...

He did such a good job on his bald eagle project!

He earned an E for excellent!!

Way to go Griffin!!

And they are off!

Griffin was very excited to have won third place in the Tiger division!

Way to go Griffin and Mike ... good job!

Creating A Pinewood Derby Car.

It was Pinewood Derby time for Griffin's Cub Scout Pack so he received his Pinewood Derby Car kit.

It was a block of wood.

This was Griffin's first experience in building a Pinewood Derby car.

Good thing he has a very talented father and together they could build it together.

Mike did the cutting on the saw.

Griffin did the sanding with a little help from Daddy.

Then it was time to seal it ...

Then paint it ...

The design was totally his own.

He painted it yellow and with a black stripe like Bumblebee the Transformer.

Then he put colorful "tattoo" markings all over it ...

The number he chose is 338 when you flip it over it reads BEE.

Mike and Griffin had a great time creating his first Pinewood Derby car together.

Griffin Turns 7.

We've had many experiences and adventures the past few months ... it's time to get caught up on my blogging!

Griffin celebrated his birthday with a party at the YMCA with 20+ friends!

The theme was Transformers (of course!)

When decorating we could choose from red, white or green tableclothes. I wanted to choose the red because it matched better. But, Griffin wanted green. I asked him several times "are you sure" ... and he finally said "Mommy it is a BOY party. It does not have to be pretty it just has to look cool".

So ... green it was!

The one and only thing he asked for was an Optimus Prime Transformer pinata.

Luckily I found one at the party store.

The kids had SO much fun with it.

Griffin has a sweet spot in his heart for his good friend Sara. She is so good with him too. She gave him a ride in the deep end of the pool.

Some of the kids enjoying the pool ...

Though I did not get a picture of it while we were in the pool area ... it snowed.

I'm talking big, fluffy blizzard like snow. The kids LOVED it!!

Happy 7th Birthday Griffin ... we LOVE you!

Griffin's Week Of Accomplishments!

It's been a very big week in 7-year-old Griffin's life!

He's achieved so much in just two days!

On Monday night he was presented with his Tiger Cub Scout badge. He and all of the other Tigers in his den achieved all of the requirements to earn their Tiger badge.

Way to go Tigers!

Tuesday after school we went to the YMCA to swim. Griffin had mentioned to me he wanted to take the swim test so he could go down the big yellow slide.

To pass the swim test you have to swim the full length of the pool and then tread water for 10 seconds without touching bottom.

And he passed!

He was very excited to be able to go down the big yellow slide for the first time! And he did it over, and over and over again!!

Also, on Monday he got off the bus with a missing front tooth!

He was super excited about that. He left it under his pillow and the tooth fairy came to visit.

Of course when one front tooth comes out the other is soon to follow. He lost his other front tooth last night right before bed. He also put that under his pillow and the tooth fairy once again found our way to her house.

We are very proud of all of his achievements and milestones.

Way to go buddy ... we love you!!

He Lost His Front Tooth.

Seems like Griffin's front tooth was loose for a very long time ...

He came home from school today with a missing front tooth.

And he is adorable!

He can hardly wait for the tooth fairy to visit tonight. =)

Birthday Taxi.

I have so many things I want to blog about ... so many pictures and memories. Just finding the time to blog seems next to impossible these days.

Today though ... I have time to post this!

On Griffin's birthday Mike was home and when he is home we always pick Griffin up from the bus stop in the Polaris (the buggy).

We decorated the buggy with balloons and a Happy Birthday Griffin sign.

Mike thought it would be funny to go dressed in Griffin's Transformer masks.

Look ... it's Daddy Prime (Optimus)

And Mommy Prime ... Bumblebee

As you can see on his face, Griffin was delighted when he got off the bus.

And so Griffin Bee joined Daddy Prime on the buggy for the ride home.

Once we arrived home he discovered all of his birthday gifts.

And the opening commenced ...

The night of his birthday his Cub Scout den had a go-see-it at the local firestation. I have a number of super cute pictures from that event, unfortunately I feel I should not share the pictures here since I do not have the parents' permission. Just know it was a GREAT time!!

Snow Day.

Today is the first no school "snow day" for the kids.

Griffin and I have been staying warm inside watching movies.

Jasper and Oliver have been having fun outside in the snow playing with Coco.

Fun fact about this picture ... I posted it on NBC12's Facebook page and they put it on TV. I didn't see it but a friend told me she did. How cool is that?

We are going to snuggle in and enjoy our snow day today.

Butterfly & Dragonfly Thank You Tags.

My friend Sybil asked me to make thank you tags for her baby shower this weekend.

This is what I came up with ...

Her theme is spring and she wanted to use butterflies & dragonflies. Using the purples and yellow colors of her choice I came up with these.

On the one side it is blank with a Thank You sentiment.

On the other side I incorporated the butterfly and dragonfly adding a flower to bring them all together.

I had such FUN making these! I might even make some for my store!

Very Pink.

It was feeling very pink in my house today as I finished up two custom embellishment orders.

I made these for a customer having a Paris themed birthday party. Her order included crowns and fleur-de-lis in pinks, black, sparkles and glitter!

I also created two dozen paper tag embellishments for another customer. She is having a Barbie inspired birthday party for her daughter and she thought my "Silhouette Girls" would fit right in. She will be using these as cupcake toppers.

Over the past 14 years I have totally been into creating my handmade paper embellishments for scrapbooking. Lately my paper embellishments have been used in party planning ... I absolutely LOVE knowing my little handmade creations will be included in happy & celebratory occasions.

The best part? I'm LOVING the fact I can create custom colors and selections for those who would like them.

I LOVE CUSTOM ORDERS!! Visit me at www.missymadeit.com if you are planning a party or would like to incorporate my handmade paper embellishments in any creative occasion!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day ... a day full of love, flowers, chocolates and sweets!

My sweet boys gave me this beautiful bouquet of flowers today

Aren't they pretty? I think so. And I arranged them in this lovely pitcher I found years ago in the mountains of North Carolina.

Griffin will be sharing these darling heart lollipop bouquets with his classmates today

I think they are so cute. And different. He's also giving out his Transformer Valentine's Day cards too.

Make sure to take the time today to tell those you love that you {LOVE} them!!

Raising His Hand.

Occasionally someone says something about your child that just brings happiness to your heart. Griffin has been working really hard on raising his hand, waiting his turn and not blurting out. Today his Cub Scout leader told me he noticed how well Griffin was doing with these things after our trip to the fire station. That just makes me happy. =)

Paper Flowers & Butterflies

My friend Sybil came over the other day and we whipped together some paper flowers and butterflies for baby shower invitations she wanted to create.

She added them to these darling cards, accenting them with a pearl to create very sweet and unique invitations.

She did such a great job!!

If you have a party, shower or any other creative event (even scrapbooking!) in your future stop by www.missymadeit.com for your paper embellishment supplies!!

Best. Toy. EVER.

Around Christmas time I was in Toys 'R Us looking for some Scooby-Doo stuff for Griffin. Something caught my eye and I thought ... maybe Griffin would like that.

This is what I picked up ... a Play-Doh Transformer set.

Griffin likes Play-Doh and he LOVES Transformers.

This is the absolute BEST TOY EVER!

I'm not kidding. If your child like Transformers, the Play-Doh company has knocked it out of the park with this set.

Your little one can make Autobots and Decepticons two different ways.

Griffin has literally spent HOURS playing with this set. I actually enjoy sitting down with him to create Transformers as well.

So thank you Play-Doh for making the BEST. TOY. EVER!!!!

Griffin's Special Order.

Griffin had a special order request for red & blue airplane cutouts from his little shop within a shop on Etsy.

Today his very sweet customer shared pictures of what she did with them!

(Photo taken by J.W. and borrowed from blog with permission)

She used them as confetti and created cupcake toppers for her son's birthday party!

It's amazing what you can create using paper.
