24 Years Ago Today.

Seems like only yesterday Mike and I went to prom together ... it's been 24 years today.

We started dating our senior year ... after sitting beside each other in Data Processing class. Without Mike I'm pretty sure I would not have passed that class. Anyone else remember writing basic language for a computer program.

Although we actually started dating at the end of March, one of our first "real" dates was prom so we've always said our "anniversary" is April 6th.

We were in the class of 1985 ... Winter Haven High School.

(The obligatory annual prom picture posting)

We were such lucky kids ... Winter Haven is in central Florida and we always had our prom at Disney World. I remember going to dinner at this very fancy restaurant called La Coquina at the Disney Resort. I had never been to such a fancy restaurant before. It's the kind they give you the sorbet to clean your palate before your meal. The meal was fancy schmancy and I honest to goodness left that restaurant hungry. LOL.

After dinner it was on to Disney World for our amazing Senior Prom. Back in the day in our area, it was "the thing" to wear one of the Cypress Garden's Southern Bell dresses from Cinderella's Dream. By the time I went in to rent mine ... they had this oh so lovely seafoam green one left. I tell ya ... it was something moving in that thing. Full hoop and all.

I also went to the beauty shop to have my hair done. I hated it. I came home and redid it myself. See those red highlights in my hair ... Sun In. Anyone else remember Sun In? And if you look really close you can see my bright blue eye liner and mascara. What were were thinking??

After prom Mike and I drove to Sebastian Inlet for a few hours. I must have brought a change of clothes because I can't imagine going out on the beach in my hoop dress. To this day Sebastian Inlet is one of my very favorite places to visit.

Gosh ... we were so young. We've lived our lives and we've grown older together. We have a beautiful life. A beautiful son. A beautiful family.

We are lucky.

Lucky indeed.
