It's Beginning To Look Like ...

Yesterday while Griffin was in school, I took advantage of those three glorious hours to get alot of chores done.

First up was bringing in about 4 loads of firewood ... a load of firewood for me is about 6 logs in the carrier and a single log in the other hand. The logs are heavy and I have to bring them into the house in smaller batches.

Up next ... decluttering and cleaning the porch.

T.H.A.T...W.A.S...A...T.A.S.K...I.N...I.T.S.E.L.F.

I cleared all of the toys off the porch, brought Griffins bike in, threw some stuff away that really shouldn't have been there anyway, swept the massive amount of leaves off, sprayed the entire front of the house under the porch with bleach to remove the mildew (yes, mildew), sprayed my park benches with the bleach to clean them, and finally I got the waterhose out in 30 degree weather and sprayed off the bleach solution from the house.

WHEW.

And then I had a little fun decorating the porch for Christmas.

That was fun.

I wanted to surprise Griffin and have it decorated when he came home from school.

First I took the four giant ornaments and hung them on the hangers, got out the Christmas shovel and hung it, put the fake poinsettia out and hung the wreath on the door. I have some more to do, but I'm thinking it looks pretty festive now.

This year I bought a fake poinsettia instead of a real one. It gets so cold here and I get tired of taking the real ones into the house at night. I thought I would avoid that this year by getting a fake one.

I did a little something different with the fake wreath this year too. I added some real holly leaves and berries to it. I think it really brightens it up. I know that bow has seen better days, looks like I need to get a new one!

My hard work paid off because Griffin noticed right away. As we were getting out of the car he said "OH Mommy ... it looks so pretty!". That just made my day.

This is going to be such a wonderful Christmas. Griffin is understanding everything this year and it is just awesome!

Now ... I'm in the mood to get back to work. I've added some Christmas themed paper piecings to my Ebay listings. You can find them by clicking
HERE if you are interested.

I've also added them to my Etsy Shop if you prefer to shop via Etsy ... click

I hope you have a great day!

  2. Your house looks great! So festive and pretty. I looked at your big ornaments and I'm thinking I may buy some for the front of the house and take my windchimes down for the holiday. Thanks for the idea.

  4. Griffin amazes me. He is going to make a woman a great husband one day if he notices changes so easily and then compliments them! Everything does look really nice and homey. I too love the large ornaments hanging under the porch.

  7. Very nice and festive! And the poinsettia looks real to me. Good idea adding some leaves and berries to your wreath. I like to go outside and gather magnolia leaves, holly leaves, and berries, and pinecones and decorate my mantel with all of it. I use it to brighten up the stocking holders that hang there.
