Shhhh ... It's A Secret.

Once again Griffin had a great time at the "Mommy & Me Open Gym" yesterday. This is a great event that our local Parks & Rec provides twice a week for children. Griffin and I have been attending since he was one year old!

In addition to running, jumping and playing with his friends, he started creating a very special surprise (shhh!) for Daddy for a Father's Day gift.

The art project for the day was to take primary colored finger paints, and then mix them together to create secondary colors. Here you can see Griffin, Keisha and Darius in full creative mood.

They were to make two finger painted creations and once they dry (next week) Mrs. Broxon will cut them into strips. We will then help our little ones weave the two different painted strips of paper into a mat for Daddy. I think they plan to laminate them as well.

Griffin and Darius seemed to think clean up was as much fun as the actual painting session.

And here you see some of the amazing artwork created by our pretty amazing children.

This picture and the next one came out pretty blurry ... I'm not sure why that happened. There were quite a few kids and their Mommies there yesterday, but it seems I only got a few shots of Griffin and Darius.

This is a great way for our kids to run off some energy and for us Mommies to socialize a bit.

I think it is so great that your community has so much for the kids to do. More communities should follow suit. I wish they had more things like that in Winter Haven (especially when my kids were younger.)

  4. I have to take some time to pull up my childhood experiences from when I was griffen's age---I mostly recall walking to school about three blocks away---and going directly through the middle of the snow drifts (which were over my head at that age(1st grade). we lived in Gary, Indiana at the time (1943)
