Field Trip - PBS Station & Engineering Experiments

We had a great time on an HSFC field trip today! It was a terrific hands on learning experience at the PBS station (WCVE). We toured the TV/radio station, the kids had fun in the control room and TV studio - they especially enjoyed the green screen! They had the opportunity to speak with a radio personality and ask questions. As we finished up the day, engineers led the boys' age group in experiments involving electromagnetism. It was a truly wonderful day!!

JOY.

When I was cooking dinner, I overheard Griffin telling his Dad we were reading about joy today.

He said, "You know Dad, to lead a joy filled life we put Jesus first, others second and yourself third. J-O-Y. Joy. It's easy to remember". My heart was full hearing him share this with Mike!

Game Night At Church!

The youth group hosted game night at church ~ it was so much fun! I haven't played Monopoly in years. I'm seeing more board games in our future!

He's Almost 12.

I can't believe how much this guy has changed in a year. Not only in height, but also in maturity and knowledge. And, as his mother, it is such a gift to see how he continues to grow in his faith. 💙 #almost12

4H Trailblazers - Wildlife Biology

4H Trailblazers ~ tonight's Wildlife Biology program was presented by Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. It was very interesting!

He Loves This.

He looks forward to Thursdays ~ because of this. I'm so thankful he has the most amazing and patient piano teacher! Griffin always leaves here feeling encouraged, lifted in spirit, and confident in what he is learning.

Taking A Walk.

Griffin was taking a quick brain break when he came inside to tell me how nice it was out. I suggested we take a walk after school. He asked me why we didn't go right now. So we did! He has such an incredible imagination and he's knowledgeable in some many areas. I loved spending this time with him, just talking.

Lumberjack Cake!

l attempted a 'Lumberjack Cake' tonight. The finished cake resembles a log and the inside is a semblance of buffalo plaid. I used boxed cake mix and icing, and added in food coloring to get the colors I wanted.

Youth Service Day.

Today, two RMBC church vans full of youth gathered together with several other youth groups to serve our community in the name of Jesus! My heart is full!!

2nd & Charles Book Store!

Griffin and I ventured out to 2nd & Charles today! This is the coolest store. Ever. Griffin actually called it legendary!! They have rows and rows of books, movies, games and music. Some items are used, others are new. One of Griffin's favorite finds was Lego by the ounce! Now, we are enjoying lunch at the park and I'm reading a book I found there. It's so nice to enjoy almost 70 degrees in January!!
