Happy Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

I love it for the fun, excitement, joy and wonder it brings. I love it for the costumes, the treats, the giggles, and silly stuff we do. What other day can Mommy wear a silly witch's hat with spider webs all over it?

Griffin's Halloween season has been packed full of fun things this year.

There was trick or treating at the campground, the Halloween parade and party at his school, the fall festival hosted by the local city, and last night the super fun party at Kaitlyn & Hailey's house.

Today we will carve our pumpkins and enjoy "Trunk or Treat" at a local church with lots of fun friends!

Since I love Halloween so much I thought I would share pictures of Griffin's past costumes.

Halloween 2010
This year he is Bumblebee The Transformer ... the youngest of the Transformers. Griffin LOVED this movie and he is totally into Transformers right now. A fun fact? He actually found his Bumblebee gloves first ... at Mrs. Lisa's yard sale. Then came the costume months later. How cool is that?

Halloween 2005
Griffin's first Halloween! I actually bought two different costumes his first Halloween. A giraffe and the pumpkin costume you see here. I wasn't sure which of the two he would wear but once I put the pumpkin costume on his I just knew that was THE one! Trying to get this picture of our then blue-eyed Griffin was harder than you think. It was home alone and trying to get a picture of him IN the wagon with pumpkin. It wasn't working so I settled on him sitting on the porch beside the pumpkin. It's one of my favorite pictures of him of all time.

Halloween 2006
Bob the Builder was his costume and he wore his "little engineer" helmet. How appropriate right? We had so much fun this year. It's the first time we went around to a few houses to trick or treat. The first one was The Oakes family and he LOVED it!

Halloween 2007
Captain Jack Sparrow at your service ... he was the cutest little pirate! In this picture he's not wearing all of the accessories (parrott, earring, necklace, etc). He was invited over to a neighbor's party and enjoyed partying with all the kids.

Halloween 2008
Nananananananananan Batman! He was so cute ... he loved being Batman. After going to a neighbor's party we went to a local church for Trunk or Treat.

Halloween 2009
He LOVED the movie Toy Story ... he watched it all the time. There was never, ever a question about what he would dress up like for Halloween. It was freezing cold and raining last year. We went house to house in our neighboring roads Trick or Treating in the buggy. He was over it about 30 minutes in. It was truly so much fun though!

I'm so looking forward to tonight ... first we'll carve those pumpkins, cook up some sloppy joes and french fries and then head to the Trunk or Treat!

We wish you a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

My Heart.

I'm a lucky girl.
I know that.

I have a wonderful husband and son.
They are my heart.
I love them very much.

I enjoy watching Mike teach Griffin new things and be the loving father he is.

As he's getting older I see more and more of Mike's traits in Griffin.

These two pictures were taken last week. The first one is when we were camping. I love this picture. The second one was taken at Bass Pro Shop. Just look at the smiles on their faces.

Yes. I am a lucky girl.

Trick Or Treating At The Camp Ground.

The campground we stayed at invited campers to bring candy so the children could trick or treat around the park.

Many of the camp sites were decorated with lights, Halloween decorations and scary sounds. They had the camping store all decked out with Halloween decorations as well.

This was such a pretty sight. They put orange lights in with the purple mums. Oh so pretty!

Griffin (Buzz Lightyear), Sam (Vampire/Dracula), Sarah (Devil), Hannah (Big Sis) and Zachary (Big Bro) ... all ready for trick or treating. The big kids decided to stay around the camp site to hand out candy while we took the little kids trick or treating.

Griffin decided to bring his Buzz Lightyear costume from last year for camping because we were afraid he would get his Bumblebee Transformer costume dirty. He made a very good decision because I think his Buzz costume is way beyond salvaging. It's currently in the washing machine ... fingers crossed it doesn't tear apart.

Sam was the scariest vampire in the park!

This man had a scary mask on. Griffin went right up to him and said "Excuse me, I like your scary mask". He's so funny. Not scared of a thing.

The kids loved this big bat they had hanging from the trees.

This was such fun. I would LOVE to make this an annual tradition.

Same time next year. Hopefully!

Camping!

Our family went camping this weekend with the Hall family.

It was an absolute blast ... we had such a good time!

Our home away from home ...

We stayed at the Natural Bridge KOA. They had many fun activities for the kids to do including pumpkin painting. Griffin, Hannah, Sam and Sarah enjoyed painting a pumpkin together.

Griffin getting it just right ...

Sam and Griffin playing a little "shoot 'em up" among the trees.

There was a wonderful playground right by our campsite.

They even had a Wizard of Oz themed hayride ... the kids had fun throwing plastic pumpkins at the witch and flying monkeys!

After a hard day of playing we sat around the campfire to enjoy dinner together.

This was the MOST fun trip! We packed ALOT of fun activities into two days. I have lots more to share ... including Trick or Treating from the campers and visiting the Safari Park. More coming tomorrow!!

3!

Griffin's teacher asked us to work with him writing the number 3.

The other night he sat in Mike's lap and worked on writing 3s over and over again.

At first his 3s looked more like the letter S ... but then Daddy suggested he make little sideways hills ... voila ... 3s!!

I love watching him learn and achieve new things!

Color My World.

Griffin had another homework assignment last night ...

This time it involved recognizing words that happened to be colors.

First he had to figure out the correct word to go with each letter represented on the rainbow from the word bank. Then he had to write the word in the correct spot.

And then his favorite part of course is coloring the rainbow when he was finished writing the words.

He is working on his writing. Trying to figure out which side of the letter the line goes on is something he's really focusing on. The letters a, b, d, p, and q can be a bit confusing for a little guy.

But ... practice makes perfect and we will continue to practice, practice, practice!

Camping ~ {In The Backyard}

Saturday night we went camping in our backyard!

We put the tent up ... our little "home away from home".

Griffin had his own idea of what necessary camping essentials were ... including his new shark snuggle pillow (which is as big as he is!).

Capturing a sweet moment of him reading in the tent.

Mike built a roaring camp fire ... so we could cook!

Mike grilled hamburgers over the open fire ... and Griffin and I roasted hotdogs.

Yummmm ... the BEST hotdogs ever!

We also made smores and they were DELICIOUS!!

It was a great "first" try at camping ... can't wait to do it again for real soon!

Happy Fall Ya'll!

I've just added this little handmade cutie to my Ebay Store:

http://stores.ebay.com/Missy-Made-It

How many can I make for you? =)

Fairy Houses.

Walking in the woods the other day Griffin and I came upon this mushroom ...

We believe it's a fairy house.

Just look ... a fairy could totally live there.

Homework!

On Monday Griffin's teacher sent home a homework assignment that consisted of five different pages.

Once completing and returning to school he would get to choose a prize from the prize box.

He decided to complete all five pages on Monday night to turn them in on Tuesday morning.

I'm so proud of his effort and dedication to getting his homework done.

On another note ... after finished up his homework he was practicing his writing skills on his "white board" as he calls it. Mike was on the way home so he wanted to write his Daddy a note to give to him once he came in the door.

What a sweet boy we have!

Fall ... From Our Backyard!

This is my favorite time of year ... I love fall!

The leaves are changing so I thought I would share with you what we are enjoying in our backyard right now.

Just look at those colors!

Bright, bold and beautiful colors!

Is there anything more beautiful than FALL colors?

The only thing I can think of is a cute boy enjoying a beautiful fall day!
