Yesterday Griffin and I went to town to run a few errands.
We stopped by Michael's because my friend Cyndi had shared a coupon with me to get 40% off any one item. I found THE most darling thing ... this apple cider wooden barrel "vase". It was $12.99 and with my 40% off coupon it was about $7.75.

I looked around for some flowers to go in the barrel and I found these great fall sunflowers. I really like them because they are a bit grungy looking and they look really nice in the barrel. I put them on the little table in my entry way and it adds a little bit of fall ambience.
After Michael's we went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed. It's located in Walmart's parking lot so while they were changing my oil, Griffin and I walked over to Walmart to pick up a few things.
Griffin and I had a pretty funny "conversation" after returning to Jiffy Lube ...
As I'm paying and the man is explaining exactly what they did to my Jeep:
Jiffy Lube Man (JLM): We changed your oil
Griffin: Mommy I have to pee-pee in the potty (quietly)
Me: Just a second Griffin
JLM: We changed your oil filter
Griffin: Mommy I have to PEE-PEE in the potty (louder)
Me: I know baby, just a sec
JLM: We checked this & this & that (hurry up man!!!)
Griffin: MOMMY I have to PEE-PEE in the POTTY (even louder)
Me: Okay sweetie, I'm coming (I'm thinking man don't you hear him)
Griffin: MOMMY I AM GOING TO GO PEE-PEE IN THE WOOOOOODS!!!
The entire Jiffy Lube waiting area was full and everyone busted out laughing. Oh my gosh ... the young man that was checking me out and filling me in on what they did to my Jeep obviously does NOT have kids. I was trying to hurry him along, but he insisted on telling me each and everything they did to my car.
It was hilarious ... and gave everyone a good laugh. And yes ... he made it to the potty in time. That's my big boy!

Yesterday Griffin and I attended his Pre-School Open House
One of the things we had to bring with us were his school supplies ...

We received a list of the supplies we were supposed to bring

Here you will see some of the necessary essentials a three-year-old will need in class
As most of you know, I'm a stay-at-home Mom and Griffin has been exclusively with me all of his life. On a rare (and I mean RARE!) occassion someone else has been generous enough to watch him for awhile. I honestly can remember only three times someone else has watched him for me. Once my neighbor Cyndi watched him when Mike and I went to a Nascar race. Another time my neighbor Melinda watched him on that awful day when Mike and I had to take Wyatt to the vet for the final time and finally the only other time I remember is once when my other neighbor Carol watched him when I went to the doctor. Seriously ... he's always been with me or Mike. Of course occasionally when Grandma, Nana and Pop come to visit they will spend some alone time with him as well.
Griffin did amazingly well at the Open House. We walked in to the pre-school and talked with the director, Mrs. Jennifer and the Pastor of the church. His teacher happened to be right there too, so he met her right away. I was able to talk to her a little bit about "my" fears. She assured me everything would be okay, and I believe her. Griffin was very excited to choose a new Fish Book from their book fair and he also enjoyed the treats they had layed out on the table.
His friend Sam was over at the house yesterday, so when he was here I asked him would he please show Griffin around the school while we were there at the Open House. Sam agreed to do that and it was a success!
Sam led Griffin downstairs to where the classrooms are and showed him around. Griffin met his assistant teacher and she showed him where his cubby was and other things he will need to know.
They had some games layed out on the tables and Griffin sat down to play one of them. His teacher had come downstairs, so she sat down with him and played with him for at least 10 minutes. I thought it was very nice that she took some one-on-one time with Griffin to get to know him.
I feel so much better about him going to school now. I know next Tuesday is going to be VERY hard (for me) ... but it's the best thing for him. He's going to love it.
After the Open House I thought it would be fun to have a special dinner together to celebrate his going to school. As we were driving along I was telling him how proud I was of him and we were talking about how much he was going to enjoy school. Before heading in to town, I stopped to get gas in the car. When I get gas, I always roll down the back window so we can talk. As we're talking he says to me "You know Mommy, super duper good boys gets cars". I laughed out loud. He knows how to get me. I said, you know buddy ... you're right. He definitely earned a new car yesterday. So, we went by Walmart and he got to choose a new little car before we headed to dinner.
I know he's going to be okay. I want him to be independent. Going to pre-school is going to be absolutely WONDERFUL for him. I'll be sure to share with you next Tuesday how his first day goes.
Yesterday was the end of an era, of sorts at the Mommy & Me Gym.
Griffin will be going to school on opposite days of the week from most of his friends. He's 3-years-old and most of his little friends are 4-years-old. So while they go to school M,W,F he will be going T & Th.

This is a picture I took of our guys at the Mommy & Me Gym yesterday. Though all of his friends that were there aren't pictured, several of them are.
These are friends he's played with almost every single week at the Mommy & Me Gym for over two years!
We will certainly see his friends (and my Mommy friends) at other times, but I guess I was just getting a little melancholy about all of our fun times spent at the Mommy & Me Gym.
I hope the next wave of little ones will enjoy the M&M Gym as much as our children have.
Griffin loves to blow dry his hair after taking a bath ...

He has the hair dryer hold down pat ...

He's a rock star I tell ya!

Looks like I have a bit of work to do before our guests arrive today.
Happy Friday Everyone!!
PS ... I have to update this post ... Mike was headed out to work this morning and noticed the yard REALLY needed to be cut. He decided to mow it before he left even though he was already dressed for work and headed out. I have the BEST husband ... thank you sweetheart for taking the time to do that!
Today is my mother-in-law Jeri's birthday!

Happy Birthday Nana!!!
We love you!
Mike, Missy & Griffin
Potpourri is one of my favorite things in the world.
I love the way it smells and I love the way a decorative potpourri looks in a basket or dish.

When we were at Michael's yesterday I found this pretty fall potpourri that smells SO good. When I got home I put some of it in a favorite dish in the hall entry way.
Last night my throat started burning and I couldn't stop coughing. I think I'm allergic to this potpourri ... which really makes me sad because it brought me such joy when I found it. I may leave it out for the rest of the day just to see how I do.
My body chemistry has really changed since I had Griffin. I can not tolerate even a little bit of alcohol anymore. And, I can't even burn my favorite Yankee Candles anymore due an allergic reaction.
Have you guys ever noticed any body chemistry changes after a medical situation .. such as giving birth, having surgery, etc?
We are planning for our annual Fall trip back home to Central Florida to visit family and friends.

I have this idea that I would like to take Griffin to Disney World while we are home. I think he would love it. Although he's not THAT familiar with all of the characters he does know some of them. And I know he would LOVE the rides.
On the other hand ...
Mike thinks we should take him to Sea World instead. He thinks he would enjoy it more than Disney World at this age. Griffin LOVES animals and I know he would enjoy Sea World too.
We usually go home to Central Florida at least twice a year ... so it's not like we won't be back there to visit the other park. And wherever we choose to go he will have a GREAT time.
What do you think ... Disney World or Sea World, and why?
Griffin is in the middle of potty training ... and honestly I never thought he was going to get it. But he had a majorly successful day yesterday. I'm sure not all readers want to hear all of the details ... but when your child tells you TWICE in one outing to town that he has to go pee-pee on the potty and actually DOES ... then I'm certain you can understand my joy. He also kept a dry pull-up the ENTIRE time we were out too! Not only that, he did #2 on the potty last night with no prodding from me. Oh happy day ... I think he's got it!! I'm soooo proud of him!!

Imagine how difficult it is to blog when your computer keyboard is right in the middle of an airplane landing strip.
Something cute from Griffin last night ...
It was 10:24 pm and I let out a pretty loud sneeze.
Overhead on the monitor:
"God Bless You Mommy" ... from our sweet boy.
Awwwww ... I just wanted to go upstairs and give him a big hug and kiss. I don't know if he was actually sleep talking or if he was awake when he said this. Doesn't matter to me ... it just warmed my heart.
I would LOVE to know who visits my blog from Maidens, VA. I have this nifty little thing on my blog that tells me where people are from that visit my blog and it also tells me how you get here. This frequent visitor uses a google link for missy made it blog. Please email me mgmh@aol.com to let me know who you are! I'd love to know.
Happy Saturday Everyone!!
